Does Apple Keeps The Hair Doctor Away Too

One interesting fact you will learn in this article is, apples are part of the rose family. Yes, the same rose that people are giving on valentine. Haha. They have the same flower structure. Very cool!

Hello! In this article, we’ll talk about apples and if it can also keep the hair doctor away. I’m sure for most of us, one of the first english words we learn is usually Apple. A for Apple, B for Boy, and C for Cat. It is through the learning that introduces me to this red/green fruit.

It might also be one of the first fruits that you have tasted too. The sourish sweet fruit has a cute and interesting shape and it remains one of my favorite fruits even after decades. Let’s talk a bit about its history.

In short, Apples are part of the Rosaceae (Rose) family as the flower structures are the same, along with other fruits such as pears, raspberries, and peaches. DNA analysis tells us that apples came from the mountains of Kazakhstan (central Asia).

Also, in the previous centuries and even up to today, Apples have been very popular due to one alcoholic reason, the cider. Have you tried the apple cider before? :)

Back in Food That Are Good For Hair part 2, I have listed Apple as one of my recommendations mainly because of 3 things, the phenolic compound, biotin in the apple skin, and the antioxidant.

The phenolic compound has anti-inflammatory effects. In simpler terms, it means it is extremely good for our skin, which includes our scalp. Due to various hair chemical processes, our scalp can get overloaded with chemicals and begin to swell and that leads to inflammation. When there is inflammation, the scalp will slowly feel hot, and that leads to redness and pain. And eventually, a loss of function.

When the scalp loses its ability to function, it can no longer regulate the secretion of the natural sebum (oil). And that leads to an oily scalp. Also, the nutrients from the body might not be able to pass to the hair. And that leads to dry and damaged hair.

It is more like a chain effect of disaster instead where the lack of one thing leads to another.

In addition, Apple, as a natural detoxifier, is high in antioxidants too. You might be asking, what is that? Taking this directly from Wikipedia -

Antioxidants are compounds that inhibit (prevent) oxidation. Oxidation is a chemical reaction that can produce free radicals, thereby leading to chain reactions that may damage the cells or organisms.

In much simpler terms relating to hair, antioxidants are something that protects your hair cells from the damages. We have cells in all parts of our bodies, even for our hair, and it is at risk of being damaged too.

All in all, reading so much on the scientific information about apples, my answer is, yes, eating apples does keep the hair doctor away. But it has its limitations too. For example, for hereditary issues, if you are born with such DNA and genes, I’m afraid this can never be resolved no matter how many apples you eat a day.

However, if you have healthy hair to begin with and suffer from bad decisions such as using the wrong shampoo or too much coloring, apples can help you with this by improving the condition, making it quicker for the hair to recover. It makes it a little more difficult for the hair to be damaged if it is in tip-top condition.

In conclusion, apples are not only rich in vitamin A, B, C, and high in antioxidants, it also contains biotin that helps to promote hair growth. It is indeed a very versatile, good, and affordable food that you can eat before or after a meal, or maybe even as a meal (people who are dieting, I feel you).

To have a good ending for this article, if you have healthy hair and would like to continue having this healthy hair, prevention is better than cure, so…

Yes, an apple a day keeps the hair doctor away.
